Does the XT140 fit standard fan mounts or heatsinks?
The XT140 is a round 140mm diameter fan with mounting holes matching a 120mm square fan. The holes on the Acoustic Vibration Absorbers also match standard 120mm fan hole sizes. So as long as your case fan mount supports standard 120mm fans, then you can use It with the XT140. For mounting on heatsinks, please contact your heatsink manufacturer and find out if their supplied fan mounts support 13mm thickness slim fans.
What would happen if I plug the 4pin XT140 into a 3pin fan socket?
When plugging in the XT140 or any 4pin PWM fan into a 3pin fan socket, will cause the fan to spin at full speed. If the fan socket has speed control through voltage speed, then you will still be able to adjust the speed of the XT140.
What does PWM mean?
PWM stands for Pulse Width Modulation. PC fans with PWM function use a dedicated signal line to send a series of electrical pulse signals to modify fan speed. This is also why PWM fans have an extra PWM signal line compared to traditional 3 pin fans. Traditional 3 pin fans achieve fan speed adjustment through lowering or increasing power input, which in comparison may damage the fan in the long run.
On the product page, there are three different colored Acoustic Vibration Absorbers. Are the other colors sold separately?
Each XF140 package comes with a total of 3 sets (one pre-installed) of Acoustic Vibration Absorbers. The Acoustic Vibration Absorbers are easily removed and swappable. So you can choose the color of your preference!

Can I use other fans on the C7?
No, Currently the C7 only supports the originally attached fan. We plan to make some fanclips that will work for the C7 but they’re not available for now.
I’m using the C7 on an ITX motherboard, but having issues installing the C7 as the backplate seems to be blocked on the back of my motherboard by some components or soldering pins. Any solutions?
Yes, we’ve developed the alternative kits which replace the need of the backplate for a backplate-less installation. The washer system works with your existing mounting kit so there will be no interference with any component on the back your mainboard. To apply for the ITX Washer kit, just write in to support@cryorig.com and include: registration code of your product, full mailing address including name and phone number. CRYORIG’s support team will contact you later for verification.
When trying to install the M9 onto my motherboard, there are VRMs/capacitors that block the mounting brackets/bars from fitting. Is this heatsink not compatible or am I doing something wrong?
Since we’ve followed both the Intel’s and AMD’s design guidelines for CPU heatsinks, the issue seems more like a problem with incorrect installation or the installation is incomplete. Make sure the numbered sides of the mounting bracket/bars are facing up and the screw caps are tightened. Also, if you’re using the M9i, remember that the bars are protruding towards the CPU. Otherwise the position of the heatsink would be different from it supposes to be and comes into interfere with other components.
